Dianne Kornberg bio

Professor Emerita at Pacific Northwest College of Art, Kornberg received her MFA (painting) from Indiana University and her BFA from the University of Washington. In 1980 she began to use (and teach) photography as her primary medium for making art. Since 2007, her collaborations with poets Elisabeth Frost and Celia Bland have taken her into new visual and conceptual terrains. Digital software and pigment printmaking allow Dianne to use her skills as both photographer and painter to create large-scale, hybrid prints.
Kornberg’s work is in several important collections, including those of the International Center for Photography, the Princeton Art Museum, the Houston Museum of Art, the Seattle Art Museum, the Portland Art Museum, Tacoma Art Museum, the Henry Gallery, and the Embassy in Belize. It appears in book publications including Contemporary Art of the Northwest (Craftsman House, 1995), 100 Artists of the West Coast (Schiffer Publishing, 2003), and Portland Art Museum, Selections from the Collection. In 2007, Field Notes: Photographs by Dianne Kornberg 1992-2007, was published by the Art Gym; and in 2009, India Tigers, was published by William, James, and Co. Madonna Comix (with Celia Bland)—is now in production (William, James, and Co, 2014).
